Zahara Valibhoy

My name is Zahara and I’m the gal behind Beurre. I come from culture where there is an enormous emphasis on sharing meals with your loved ones and marking celebrations with food, always food.

Did uni, tried the business world, but to put it lightly, my heart and brain were not onboard. So, I made the big decision to eat more cake and get my qualifications and training in pastry. This wasn’t enough apparently, so alongside my days at the patisserie, I started making cakes and desserts for markets and later, events and boom, Beurre was born.

In 2017, I moved to Paris and worked at Ladurée, a renowned 163-year-old patisserie institution. Ooh la la indeed. Here, I was exposed to a wide variety of flavours, ingredients, a higher level of precision and new techniques. I also unashamedly spent the year traipsing around Europe and eating my body weight in sugar.

After moving back to Melbourne, raising 2 delightful hurricanes alongside making countless cakes and desserts for weddings, birthdays, christenings, engagements or even getting a vaccination (my viral virus moment).

Fast forward to now, I decided Beurre needed to be evicted from my kitchen and find a more fun, colourful and welcoming home which sees us now at 129 Maling Road, Canterbury. 

Beurre aims to be a joyful space filled with delicious pastries, cakes by the slice and a gorgeous space to create custom cakes for all your events (or even if you just feel like eating some cake in bed).
